Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County Headquarters

CLIENT: Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, Inc. LOCATION: West Palm Beach, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group assisted the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County with the design and approvals needed for exterior renovations to the existing building and site along with a new 1,000 SF maintenance and storage facility, and owner representation services during construction to ensure a smooth delivery of the project.

U-TIKI BEACH RESTAURANT / JUPITER INLET MARINA

CLIENT: Jim Taube & Patrick Koenig LOCATION: Jupiter, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group was retained by well-known Palm Beach County restaurateur Jim Taube and partner Patrick Koenig of Flagler Development to provide turn-key land planning and development project management services for the U-Tiki Beach restaurant and marina in Jupiter's Inlet Village district. Johnston Group organized and quarterbacked a complete team of design professionals and provided land planning services to bring Mr. Taube's vision to fruition. The restaurant, which boasts incredible views of the historic Jupiter Lighthouse, opened in Spring 2014 and has become a very popular destination among locals and tourists alike.

Walgreens Pharmacy

CLIENT: Westco Development Corp. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

This Walgreens pharmacy and an adjacent 11,200 square foot office building spent nearly four years in the malaise of the development approvals process. Finally, Johnston Group was hired as the developer sought out a new solution to the problems confronting the project and we quickly mixed up the remedy. Our outside the box approach to overcoming obstacles allowed us to completely change the way in which the project was reviewed and the needed approval was obtained in a matter of months.

Sant Ambroeus Palm Beach

CLIENT: SA Hospitality Group LOCATION: Palm Beach, Florida

Completed in 2017 at the Royal Poinciana Plaza on the island of Palm Beach, Johnston Group provided owner representation during the design, permitting and construction phases of the project, assisting the client with the coordination of all consultants, the acquisition of permits from the Town of Palm Beach, contractor bidding and management of the construction process.

Retreat at Palm Beach

CLIENT: Retreat Premier Addiction Centers LOCATION: Palm Springs, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group principal Seth Ford, on behalf of D. Stephenson Construction, oversaw the construction of this facility in 2016. The center offers group and individual therapy and features music therapy, art therapy, therapeutic massage, recreational programming, a full gymnasium, a fully equipped fitness room, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Renaissance Charter School

CLIENT: Red Apple Development, LLC LOCATION: West Palm Beach, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group completely oversaw the development of the school and assisted the property owner throughout the construction process, achieving substantial completion and issuance of Certificate of Occupancy in record time ahead of the first day of scheduled classes.

PGA Station Parking Lot Improvements

CLIENT: BBX Capital Corporation LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group was retained by BBX Capital Corporation to provide construction management services for the completion of the PGA Station parking lot. Our services included the acquisition of all necessary permits, coordination of contractor bidding, and management of the entire construction and close-out process. The project is located at the southeast corner of PGA Boulevard and RCA Drive in Palm Beach Gardens.

Digital Resource

CLIENT: Digital Resource, LLC LOCATION: West Palm Beach, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Digital Resource, LLC, ranked #262 on Inc. 500's list of fastest growing companies, retained Johnston Group Development & Construction to provide complete design/build services for its new 9,000 square foot office space in downtown West Palm Beach. The project was delivered on time and within budget in March 2019.

Coyo Taco

CLIENT: 305 Concepts, LLC LOCATION: Palm Beach, Florida

Johnston Group was retained by 305 Concepts, LLC of Miami to provide construction management services for the interior build-out of a new 3,960 square foot Mexican fusion restaurant in the Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach, Florida. Services provided included coordination of contractor bidding and complete management of the permitting, construction and close-out process.

Admirals Cove Golf Village Guard House

Admirals Cove Property Owners Association, Inc. retained the services of Johnston Group to prepare complete construction drawings for permitting and construction of a renovation to the guard house at the main gate to the Admirals Cove Golf Village community.

Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County Waste-to-Energy Plant

CLIENT: CDM Smith, Inc. LOCATION: West Palm Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group provided government liaison and permitting services for the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County's $672 million state-of-the-art waste-to-energy plant. We managed the entire permitting process for the project and acted as a conduit between the design team, contractor and City officials. Our knowledge of the City of West Palm Beach permitting process and relationships with plan reviewers ensured that this project was delivered within the constraints of a demanding schedule. The facility was officially opened on June 27, 2015.

Al Packer Ford

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group represented Packer Family Limited Partnership with respect to improvements at the Al Packer Ford East and Al Packer Ford West automobile dealerships in Palm Beach County, Florida.  The firm provided land planning services to obtain approvals necessary to construct an updated and contemporary facade for the Al Packer Ford East showroom in West Palm Beach and a site plan amendment to allow improvements at the Al Packer West store in Royal Palm Beach.

Gander Mountain

CLIENT: Oppidan Incorporated LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Two seconds flat. That’s about how long we were given to obtain all of the development approvals and permits necessary for the client to start construction of this 120,000 square foot big box retail store. Given the enormous obstacles facing the project including the necessity to change the City’s zoning code to allow the proposed use in the existing zoning district, and the negotiation of several off-site easements, an extraordinary amount of energy was exerted to build and keep the momentum necessary to get this project done on time. Thankfully, we’re used to aggressive timelines and we’re motivated by deadlines that most consultants have nightmares about! Bring it on. We thrive on challenge.

Majorie S. Fisher Boys and Girls Club

Johnston Group provided complete development management and entitlement services to oversee the design and obtain all approvals and permits necessary to construct this 22,000 square foot recreational center, which is located along the south side of Belvedere Road at Drexel Road in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Legacy Place

Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston played an integral role in managing the initial development approvals that paved the way for the Legacy Place shopping center on PGA Boulevard.  Ryan's responsibilities included securing the PCD zoning approval and conceptual engineering permits for the project, which is comprised of nearly 400,000 square feet of retail/office space and 384 residential condominium units.

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League

CLIENT: Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League LOCATION: West Palm Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Time is money. We often use that term to describe the financial realities facing our clients in the form of interest carry and potential profits from leases and sales. But in the case of the Peggy Adams ARL Grace Pavilion, a brand spanking new building including shelter, clinic and adoption facilities, the term takes on new meaning. Peggy Adams ARL, a not-for-profit associated with the Humane Society of Palm Beach County, needed professional land development assistance to obtain all of the requisite permits and approvals for construction of the Grace Pavilion within a time period specified by its philanthropic donors. The Peggy Adams ARL relies heavily on such donations which made it critical for Johnston Group to establish an aggressive schedule and then drive the consulting team to meet and exceed deadlines. We also directly handled the preparation, filing and processing of future land use, rezoning and site plan approval applications to allow the project to move forward. All in record time!

Riverside Commerce Park

CLIENT: Asset Specialists, Inc. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group was retained by Asset Specialists, Inc. to oversee the complete renovation of the former DiVosta Construction facility on Riverside Drive, south of Burns Road.  Johnston Group oversaw the design services of the architect, landscape architect and civil engineer and represented the client to obtain all necessary approvals and permits for construction of the improvements.

RCA Design Center

CLIENT: Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Consisting of nearly 380,000 square feet of office and retail space on approximately 30 acres at the southeast corner of PGA Boulevard and RCA Drive, Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston was responsible for the development of the RCA Design Center which is currently home to Tire Kingdom parent TBC Corporation, Orion Bank and the Catalfumo Companies.

Gardens Commerce Center

CLIENT: Straub Capital Corp. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

DESCRIPTION:

What a coup! This project was on a fast track from Day 1. First, Johnston Group swiftly obtained the Palm Beach County Business Development Board’s endorsement of the project for consideration under the City’s Targeted Expedited Permitting Process (TEPP) program. Then we moved the development team along a rapid schedule to obtain every permit and approval needed for construction of this 69,295 square foot project consisting of three flex warehouse buildings including a 40,000 square foot corporate home for major South Florida beverage distributor, Thies Distributing. As we expertly navigated the approvals process, we sliced through red tape like a hot knife through butter. During the site plan approval process, Johnston Group project managers effectively communicated with neighboring residents to win overwhelming support of the project. Never before seen in Palm Beach Gardens: neighbors asking the City Council to keep the plans exactly as our team had designed them!

Anspach Companies

CLIENT: Catalfumo Construction, Ltd. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston was engaged to provide development management services for this 30,000 square foot office building for the Anspach Companies as part of a design/build project completed by Catalfumo Construction, Ltd.

Grand Bank Center

CLIENT: Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc. LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston completed this 46,000 square foot office project along the north side of PGA Boulevard during his tenure with Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc.  Ryan played a key role in managing the design and approvals process including consultant coordination and governmental negotiation to secure all necessary development permits.

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

This 24,000 square foot office building, currently home to OB/GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches, was completed as a design/build project by Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc.  Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston provided Development Management and Zoning Entitlement services to bring the project to fruition in record time.

Village Center

CLIENT: FGW Investments, LLC LOCATION: Royal Palm Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group was retained by Steve Fisher, Gary Gottlieb & Mike Walters of FGW Investments to oversee the development of the 3.96-acre Village Center located at the southwest corner of Okeechobee and Royal Palm Beach Boulevards. In addition to managing the entire development team, Johnston Group provided land planning services to acquire the necessary zoning and site plan approvals from the Village of Royal Palm Beach. The project consists of a 22,170 SF office building and two 3,750 SF bank parcels.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences

CLIENT: Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc. LOCATION: Riviera Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group principal Ryan Johnston completed this 242-unit luxury oceanfront condominium project during his tenure with Catalfumo Construction & Development, Inc.  Mr. Johnston provided complete development project management and land entitlement services to oversee project design and secure every approval and permit needed to commence construction.  Additionally, Ryan successfully negotiated with City of Riviera Beach officials to allow Zoning Code changes that provided for a significant increase in the allowable density on the property thereby adding exponentially greater value to the project.

The Medical Center of the Palm Beaches / Total MD

CLIENT: Central Palm Beach Physicians, Inc. LOCATION: West Palm Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

Johnston Group was retained by Central Palm Beach Physicians, Inc. to oversee the conversion and rehabilitation of an existing 10,000 square foot office building located along Okeechobee Boulevard to this flagship facility for The Medical Center of the Palm Beaches / Total MD. Our services included coordination of all design professionals necessary to prepare plans for the building and site modifications, obtaining site plan approval for the revised project including a future Phase II office building, and managing the civil and vertical construction permitting processes.

Solid Waste Authority Materials Recycling Facility

CLIENT: WBCM Architecture Engineering & Construction LOCATION: West Palm Beach, FL

DESCRIPTION:

WBCM, an AEC firm based in Baltimore, Maryland, tapped Johnston Group to provide government liaison services and completely oversee the permitting process for this 126,242 square foot facility located on 45th Street, west of Haverhill Road.  Johnston Group became the central point of communication between the project team and City of West Palm Beach officials which allowed for a streamlined acquisition of all necessary approvals and permits.
